Old Mountain Arboretum’s mission is to advance the understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of native and non-native plants, flowers, and trees, Mississippi’s natural environment, and its unique and diverse outdoor beauty through education, conservation, economic outdoor development, the design of green spaces and unique outdoor activities.
Old Mountain Arboretum Strives To:
• to connect or reconnect visitors to the Mississippi outdoors and its unique natural beauty though providing a living museum of trees, plants, flowers, and other ornamentals,
• to increase each visitor’s knowledge and appreciation of native and non-native plants, flowers, ornamentals, and trees,
• to disseminate information of Mississippi’s diverse botanical and forest ecosystems in order to foster greater understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of these essential and valuable resources,
• to plan, design, and thoughtfully create green spaces and places for public enjoyment, education, and recreation with tribute to Mississippi’s unique environment, natural beauty, and culture,
• to cultivate transformative relationships between people and the Mississippi outdoors through conservation and preservation,
• to offer public programs, tours, events that highlight our collections of trees, plants, and flowers, green spaces, and
• to be recognized and valued as a community asset that contributes to our local and state economy and quality of life.
