Arbor Day is simply a day dedicated to trees. It is a day we set aside to inspire people and communities to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. However, Old Mountain Arboretum believes that trees should be celebrated every day.
In Mississippi, Arbor Day is celebrated on the second Friday in February, when conditions are ideal to plant trees in order for them to take root before Spring growth. Nationally, we celebrate Arbor Day on the last Friday in April. Regardless of when we celebrate, it is important for everyone to take to reflect upon the importance and benefits of these invaluable natural resource.
Below are some resources about Arbor Day and the benefits of trees to help inspire and enhance your Arbor Day celebrations. No matter your plans, take time on April 30th to thank and celebrate trees. Get outdoors and explore!
